Bed Bugs (Cimex)

Bed bugs feed on human blood, usually while their hosts are asleep.  The first people know about them is from their bites, which manifest as red, itchy bumps in most people, but can cause some to have more severe allergic reactions.

They are not a new phenomenon: civilisation has been plagued by bed bugs throughout history, thriving in our warmer homes and bedroom furniture.  Though there are times when urban populations of bed bugs have diminished, currently they are enjoying a resurgence, exacerbated, perhaps, by our more frequent travel.  You may have heard about hotels and guest houses having to close while bed bug treatment takes place.

Bed bugs don't mind a bit of luxury living either - they are as happy to dine on humans in a typical home as a 5 star hotel.  They arrive in our homes via suitcases, soft furnishings and clothing.  Once established they hide during daylight hours, emerging in darkness to seek their next meal.  They are small, and able to hide in the small crevices, so they are difficult to locate and, until all are found, impossible to eradicate.

Though they are relatively easy to treat, bed bugs are difficult to find, and usually hide in multiple places.  Applicateur 3D has considerable experience of bed bug detection.  Locating bedbugs is very time intensive, as they are very good at hiding, and we need to find all of their hiding places to treat accordingly, because if any missed will re-establish.

We prefer to treat bed bug infestations with steam and diatomaceous earth, which are green treatments with low environmental impact.  Sometimes professional insecticides may be required for stubborn, persistent cases.
